The Barn - a Country Inn with a family-friendly atmosphere

The Barn is at the heart of Cologin and it is so much more than just a pub. Describing the Barn's unique ambience is not easy - suffice to say that once you've been you will return! Our chef (with well over 30 year’s experience) is dedicated to preparing flavoursome meals, cooked to order using the best fresh local produce. We offer an imaginative a la carte menu alongside daily specials with something to suit all tastes. Vegetarians are particularly well catered for. While the food is a great attraction, the Barn's unique atmosphere, friendly staff and local musicians who play regularly throughout the year are just as important to our customers.

The Barn has won many well-deserved awards and citations over the years and you'll find it mentioned in the most discerning guide books including 'CAMRA', 'Scotland's Best Kept Secrets', 'Scotland The Best' , the Herald Newspaper Good Pub Grub guide and the 2007 Good Beer Guide.

Locals from Lerags and other nearby villages are loyal Barn patrons. Many have become firm friends with Cologin regulars over the years and they are a great source of local knowledge and information. If you're not sure what to do and where to go someone in the Barn will point you in the right direction!

Your new hosts in the Barn are The Leach family. Andrew senior is in the kitchen whilst Andrew junior is 'front of house'. Mum Helen and younger son Jamie complete the line up and we hope that our many regular customers will make them welcome as they take over from The Lindsays who have run the bar for the last 17 years! If you would like to guarantee a table for dinner please contact The Barn direct on 01631 564618 – especially if you are planning to stay during the summer season, bank holidays or Hogmanay! At quieter times of the year it’s normally possible to make arrangements on arrival but if you want to be sure of a table please remember to book in advance.
